Is architecture art or craft?
I suggest that architecture is craft and not art. First of all architecture is meant to be useful. This is what makes it craft, like a chair or a coffee cup. That's not to say that a Kajerholm chair or a Ziesel cup doesn't display artistic qualities of a compositional/sculptural nature, but still a chair is for sitting and a cup is for drinking. For that matter, architecture is for shelter, most basically. What some might consider to be architecture but is meant to be looked at is actually merely art.
